WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?
Dry needling started back in the 1940s where there was a doctor Who was doing trigger point injections with steroids or lidocaine and he started realizing whether he injected lidocaine or saline solution which is just salt water that people were getting better. Then he had a theory that it was not what he was injecting that was helping, but just the actual act of inserting a needle.
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique where a healthcare professional inserts thin, solid needles into a muscle's trigger points (knots of tension) or homeostatic points to alleviate pain and improve muscle function, with no injection of medication involved; it is often performed by physical therapists. Dry needling can treat muscular skeletal pain, it can release muscle tension, which can help with stress.
